Anthroposkull
This was the first project I did in my Electronic Media I class. The goal was to use Photoshop to create an Anthropocene image, which is an image that is in relation or denotation of our current geological age, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment. To do this I searched for an image of a skull to model on. From there, I experimented with different artificial yet natural things we do with the environment, such as farm fields, rice paddies, and cities built on bodies of water. I furthermore looked towards space, not only at the space junk we have put in space, but also our plans to colonize Mars, in which we plan to terraform, essentially creating our own artificial environment.
This is where I started, deciding to use the left skull as a base for my image.
This is a screen capture of the movie Wall-E in which his earth has been overrun with trash.
To finish it off, I added some brushwork around the skull to make it not appear as if it was floating in dead space.
