Creation of a Water Bottle Rocket

During this project, I worked with a partner to create and launch the Water Bottle rocket. It took us approximately two weeks to design and create the rocket. After designing the parts of the rocket, we glued and taped it together over a one liter Dr. Pepper bottle. To watch the launch, click the button below:

Nose Cone

Nose Cone

The first thing we did was create the nose cone on a program called Autodesk.

To create the nose cone, we had to take precise measurements of all the angles and lengths.

Next, we started creating the connector for the tube on top of the cone. We created this shape in 2D on the same program we made the cone on.

We then exported the shape to another program called Sketchup. In this program, we extruded the shape around an axis to create the finished product.

Fins

We then created fins back in Autodesk. The blue lines are construction lines and therefore are not part of the finished product.

The last thing was to 3D print the tube connector piece, and laser cut the fins and nose cone.
